In July 2014, business partners Rich and Eric opened a Freight Brokerage office in Rochester, NY. They worked together at a trucking company a few years prior and had very similar views on business services and processes. There were a few bumps at start up and along the way, however their services were always individually tailored to every customer and thus they experienced excellent growth over the next several years. They have continued to grow this business together.

In 2017, Rich mentioned renting some space to move our shop tools from their garages. They had both enjoyed crafting wood projects for 15+ years and were tired of working in their cramped home spaces. The two moved their tools into a 600 square foot shop, set up their space and continued with their hobby.  

After a year of adding better equipment and sourcing local rough lumber, the hobby grew into an obsession and L&R Custom Woodworking was born. They developed a plan to offer customized hardwood products to clients, employing the same principles that led to their success at the logistics company. 

In June 2019 the business was moved into a 5,000+ square ft facility with room for all its tools, lumber, projects and growth. Every product created is proudly made in accordance with the customer’s vision and specifications.
